Gail qualified as a physiotherapist from Coventry University in 1997. Initially working at Crumpsall Hospital in Manchester, she moved to Bristol in 1998 and began working at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
Gail specialised in muskuloskeletal physiotherapy in 2000, and worked at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Frenchay hospitals treating a wide range of muskuloskeletal conditions. Gail first worked in private practice in 2002 at the University of Bristol Sports and Physiotherapy clinic on a part time basis alongside NHS work. Here the emphasis was more on sports injuries.
Also in 2002 Gail first developed an interest in hand therapy, initially continuing with general muskuloskeletal and sports injuries alongside this, but in 2003 decided to specialise and focus full time on hand therapy.
Her career as a hand therapist has involved her working as a senior physiotherapist at both Frenchay Hospital and the Bristol Royal Infirmary, treating a varied range of hand conditions including fractures, tendon injuries, nerve injuries, ligament injuries and sprains, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, OA of the wrist and thumb and post operative care for joint replacements and fusions.
Gail currently works as a senior hand therapist in the Hand Unit at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, working with two Orthopaedic Hand Consultants and a team of eight hand therapists. Gail's post also involves her working as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist in the two Hand Consultant clinics, seeing all patients post Dupuytren's Fasciectomy, Trapeziectomy and Carpal Tunnel Decompression.
Gail is dedicated to applying her specialist skills and knowledge to provide the highest level of care for patients with a wide range of hand conditions, providing a complete and comprehensive package of care including splinting and wound care as well as all aspects of hand therapy.
